Yep. Every little bit helps. And this was only a little bit of sewing. 

A Little Sewing and This & That

Yes, I did get my bralette cut out.  No, I did not sew it up yet.

I've been very busy spraying weeds in the south 40.  Which by the way I measured and it's 150 ft by 80.  So that's a lot of square feet. 

Remember the creepy bunny picture?  Well, the last straw was early in the morning,  I was half asleep getting in my car to go to work and THERE IS WAS!  Yikes!  

It scared me so bad.  

I told Serena Enough!  She was the winner.  

My flowers in my yard are blooming and looking so pretty.  

They are doing their best to make life more enjoyable. 

As is Marzipan.  She loves sleeping (or resting) on top of her raccoon.

And lastly, Serena made these soaps today.  Aren't they cool?

Oh and that is Cosmo - the fish Angela gave me for Mother's Day.  Serena is teaching him tricks.  (Sounds crazy right?  But she is.)

So this Friday Night  I have plans to cut out my little Bralette for sewing with

Friday Night with Friends.

I asked at my local fabric store for stretch lace and they didn't have any. But we were not even looking in the right place.  We were not in the lace section.  So I bought this polyester lacey looking stuff.     

I thought it was so pretty.  I love the light pink. 

 And WhooHoo I even found stretchy lace elastic to go with it.

And on a different note:

My daughter gave me a picture of my grandchildren with the Easter Bunny.

(All you people that think I'm nice.  You are about to learn the truth!)

I DON'T like this picture I think it's CREEPY!

  I decide to try to creep out my other daughter with it.

First I put it on her bed.  Then she put in on my sewing machine.  (Good one Serena!)

So this morning I put it in front of her makeup in the bathroom. 

We'll see where it is when I get home.

Eric's Quilt & Need Some Ideas

Yes!  I did it.  I got this quilt sewn and in the mail.

Happy Dance!!

This is not my usual style of quilt (squares and more squares) however, in this case done is better than spectacular.  I'm telling you, the recipient is older and would not live long enough for me to send what I would really like.   I like that this is a lap quilt - the scripture verses should be a joy for him.

Now on to my next project.  

Another panel.  Yikes.  I already know I'm not crazy about panel quilts. 

  This panel is for Rosanna.  She is crazy about the artist, Van Gogh and loves  - The Starry Night.  (the top left picture.)  So when I found this panel I bought it, thinking I would make her a quilt for her bed.

Now I need your help.  Her bed is a Queen - the panel is about 45 x 18. At first I was thinking of cutting brick shape rectangles out of different batiks with black in between the bricks and spreading these pictures around intermittently throughout the bricks.  Now I'm wondering if that's a viable idea. Do I have enough pictures to spread throughout?

Do you have any ideas of what I can do?

My Vinyl Fence and Erik's Quilt

I'm pretty excited over what I was doing this past weekend.

This vinyl fence.  Well, not the whole thing.  See Ramon had put up the front part and gate years ago.  Like 10 years ago. We have just had a silly little gate to no where for the longest time.  My pool equipment is behind it. 

But I asked him to come help me and he came over and we went through the pile of vinyl and found what we needed to make the rest of the fence, which is the left side from the gate to the wall. 

It was so much fun putting this together. Ramon dug the holes and did all the hard work - the thinking.  I put the slats in.  

It did take a while to get it all together. So that's why I didn't work on Erik's quilt on Saturday.  On Sunday I went to lunch with the kids - and then they came over and we played games. And that's why I didn't work on it Sunday. 

But on Monday I worked on it.  It's a simple quilt so I was able to get the top done.

 I put a little green flange between the border and the blocks.

I just had to give it some kind of little "POP".

I had gone to the store without the quilt and just picked a green fabric I thought would go.  Lucky me because it does!

I'm hoping he will really enjoy the quilt and the verse blocks will be comforting. 

Now to get a backing, batting and finish this baby up!

But not tonight as I have plans to go with a friend and a bunch a people I don't know to dinner at then to gaze at the "pink" full moon tonight.

Erik's quilt and my yard - plus Lily & Marzipan

My goal last weekend was to work on Erik's quilt. 

He is such a sweet man, so funny and smart.  I really admire him. He also tells the best stories about coming over from Sweden and makes everyone laugh. 

He married my mom but because they live in a different state, I haven't gotten to know him very well until recently. 

I do know that he will like this panel - and be very appreciative.

So I started ....

by sewing fabric around the blocks. 

And then - of my gosh Foxtails got in the way!

I realized I had to clean up my yard.  That damn gardener  wanted to charge me $400.00 to weed wack them. 

Wait - here's a picture.

It does look bad doesn't it?  It's 100 feet to the end of the property.

Not having $400, I started weed wacking them myself. 

And in the meanwhile I called a guy off Craig's list.  Now that's scary. You never know who will show up!

A nice guy named Joe came out (with his buddy) and cut them all down in 2 hours!!!  

2 guys for 2 hours equals 4 hours!

Which means that damn gardener wanted $100 an hour!!

And Joe only charged me $60 to do the whole yard.  Which is about what I usually pay.

So guess who's looking for a new gardener?

And then I got back to work on Erik's quilt.

I've had the pattern forever (yeah, you all know how it goes!)  I've bought several different fabric in different colorways for this.  I need to decide and SEW!

#4 Bralette

Play with and learn my Clarity Ruler foot - so a small project -pillow or hot pad.
