It's a Woot Woot Kinda of Day!

My niece is getting married soon.  I thought it would be fun to include some pillowcases in with the wedding gift.

Okay I'm really excited about this - I wanted to do something with music notes. And you know how it is, you get an idea or you seen it before, but when you go shopping it's not there.  Well....it was there! At the very first store!  YAY!

For your viewing pleasure:  Pillowcase fabric.
And since you can't see the black, here's another, much better, shot.
Are you saying Woot Woot with me?  I thought you would be excited too.  So now you know what I'll be working on this weekend.  And geese, I'll be quilting on Mark's Flying Geese quilt too.

So now on to the next thing I bought. Marshall's is right next to our Joann's Fabrics. I thought I would just see if they had something special for the bride and groom.
Two glass dishes - the larger one is about 12 inches square and the other is about 4 inches.  I thought they were so pretty.  The bride loves blue. In her sweet little sing song words - "light blue, dark blue, teal blue" ...and on and on she goes, but you get the point.

So that's my story for today!

Some Stitching and My New Addition

Surprise, Surprise!!  I'm working on quilting the Flying Geese Quilt.
See....here's the proof!

This really is one of my favorite pictures.  I like the way the geese are flying off my sewing machine. LOL!!

I have the geese about 1/2 way done - and then I'll start quilting the gold and borders.  I'm just working on it little by little - after all I don't need it till winter time.

And in the back, on the ironing board is the Christmas Tree Wall-hanging.  Can you believe it, I'm actually working on it too!
A few more beads - and a good ironing and I'll be ready to quilt this one too!
Thanks to A Left Handed Quilter I've turned my wrong blocks right side up.
(Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction!)

And here's my new addition.  I'm so excited about this:
I needed a new skillet and I found this yellow one at WalMart.
Look at how nicely it goes in my kitchen.
They had them is a bunch of different colors.

Mark actually asked me it I wanted a black pan - WHAT??  How could he even think that?
Life is too short for black pans.  LOL!

Do you ever have one of those days...

Do you ever have those days where you just don't sew?  When Sandra Kaye posted her "Get em Done" link I realized it hasn't been days - but a MONTH since I've sewn.

My how time flies!

I thought - if I just had white thread in my machine, at least I would be moving in the right direction.
Done. Now that's a good start.

Then I selected a geese on the quilt and quilted my very first feather design on a quilt.
Yay!!  I think that looks good enough.
(Don't worry about not seeing it that clearly - it's not that great.  LOL!)

Then I did the next one up.  Hot Doggie, that one turned out okay too!
And then I quit.  LOL!  It is a nice solid start to getting this quilted.

Oh, and then I realized, I had started from the bottom of the quilt instead of the middle.
Oh Dear! What wrong with me?

Feel free to head on over and link up with Sandra. Show off what you have accomplished.

Practice Feathers

I decided last night to practice some quilting so that I can get Mark's Flying Geese quilt quilted.

I took some white fabric and drew out some triangles - to reflect Mark's geese. And then tried my hand at some feathers.  WhooHoo!  I haven't tried feathers in a LONG time. My first ones were muck! Then I practiced on paper (several months ago) and this one my first attempt last night.
I think this will do - I'll probably quilt some scrolly stuff around the geese.  His quilt is pinned and laying on the ironing board just waiting for me.

Speaking of scolly stuff...Mark and I went to the quilt store and we saw a book on quilt motifs.  It was nice - I'm thinking I'll go back to purchase it.  But in the meanwhile, Mark showed me his wrought iron book he uses for his wrought iron fences. It's filled with all kinds of wrought iron scrolls.  He told me he would love to go buy me the book of scrolls at the quilt shop. LOL!!  I thought that was funny he called the book of motifs a book of scrolls.

On my walk today.  I saw the cutest little mushrooms or maybe they are toadstools. They are so tiny and cute!
I hope you all are finding beauty in things around you.

May Goals

I've been thinking about what to list for my May Goals.  I love lists - as long as I get something crossed off on them. If I don't then I think lists are horrid little things.

So I've finished my Kick in the Pants quilt.  I would love to start quilting on it but I've been having problems doing that.  First, Mark's back has been hurting so I haven't ask him to pin my quilt. Second, I've been falling asleep at 7:00 each night. It's really hard to quilt when you are snoring.  Hehehe!!
KitKat snoozes with me.  She's a dog after my own heart.
# 1 item on my list:  Quilt - Kick in the Pants
# 2 item: Quilt - Mark's Flying Geese
For my next items I would like to do something different than a quilt.  Do you get in  those moods too?

# 3 Item:  I would like to sew up a blouse for me.  I don't have a pattern or fabric yet.

# 4 Item:  Sew something up to go along with my niece's wedding gift. Either pillows or an apron or pillowcases, something fun.

And lastly, # 5 finish up my Christmas Wall hanging.
I'll be doing the sew along with small projects with Crazy Mom Quilts

April Finish

It was my goal to piece this quilt together for Judy's UFO Challenge. It really went to together quickly.  It's so funny because I bought that yellowish green fabric (yuk!) I then had to change it out. Then I bought this yellow and thinking it would go nicely, only to sew it up and think "OOPS, that's a mistake!"  But it's just not that important of a quilt so I just kept going.  I had to look all over (3 quilt stores) to find this wonderful purple border fabric and what do you know - it made that yellow look good.  Go figure!
In the end I'm happy with my "Kick in the Pants" quilt.

Oh, and let's not forget KitKat.  She ran over and had to have her picture on it.  She wouldn't leave it alone which is why I finally asked Mark to hold it for me and I snapped the above picture.
