Cross Stitch is Started

Thank you so much for the suggestions.
I've gotten my threads labeled and organized.
One thing I thought was funny were the comments that others have started a X-Stitch project and it's sitting in a drawer unfinished.  I fully expect that to happen to me too.  However, eventually it will get done.  And if not, who cares?

So here is my start.

Also, and unfortunately, comments are not coming through to my email.  So I'm sorry I can not reply back.  I don't know why this hit be so much later than everyone else.  Di of Quilting is Blissful gave me a suggestion to remedy this -  I hope it works.

Making Little X's

I can't get my old projects completed so I started a new one!

Wait until you see it and then you will know why.
This is sew exciting and I can't wait to tell you.

Sandy over at Loves to Stitch posted about a cross-stitch that her cousin Vonda made for her (Post & picture is right here)
Well I love it and she was kind enough to help me with the pattern.

She also sent me some notes that she had made.
What is really cool is that it didn't come with floss (or fabric) and I had to pick out all my own. I changed up a few of the colors but for the most part I used the ones she had listed.

Now I already know I'm not good with cross-stitch.  I lose my place all the time and make little x's in the wrong place.  But I'm going to give it another try.

I've blocked off this section to start with.
Any helpful hints or suggestions that you can give me I'll take!

Thank you so much Sandy and Vonda!!

Happy Stitching,
Linda

Should I use the Poppy Print?

I did some shopping and here's what I found.
I know Serena loves Poppies - but I wasn't sure about having this floral on the back of a more modern quilt.
I don't really think so.  Do you think is goes?

I also found this butterfly fabric.  But no. There is not enough available.

I saw this one too - Not enough fabric.

Then I found these dots! Perfect.  But oh dear, I remember that Serena doesn't  like dots.

So that's why I didn't complete #3 on my deadline list.

As for the Stupid Turtle quilt... I got it out. Didn't know what to do and threw it back in the closet.  Okay, I folded it neatly and placed it on the top shelf. So #1 not completed on my deadline list.

As for the backing for the Doggie quilt - I saw some cute stuff - but I was focusing on Serena's.  So #2 on the deadline list was a fail also.

Now I'm not discouraged - that I failed on all three items to be completed.  I'm still very focused on getting the backing for Serena's quilt.

Let me know what you think, use the poppy fabric?  Or keep searching?
