Stencil Designs & Christmas

Good Morning - so this what I'm working on.  Do you like the design I selected for the feathered star corners?  I hope it works - quilting is not for the timid.  LOL
I have a plastic stencil of it.
I decided to draw it out on the seal and stick (or is it stick and seal) Glad Wrap.
Close up - it will be possible to quilt even with the dark background.
The good news is it sticks really well.  But then I felt "off" and couldn't quilt that day.  I decided to draw the design on paper, and trace over it again and again. You know, practice my muscle memory on it.

Well, on Saturday the day I usually quilt, I had to put up 107 foot wood fence with a gate. THAT took up a chunk of my day.  We worked from 5:30 am until 6:30 pm and then for some reason I didn't feel like quilting.  hehehe

In the meanwhile, Christmas is coming.  I have the presents bought, the stockings and tree up and the outside lights up.
and my little lighted houses.
Work had a party for the employees, and they had it at the California Living Museum. It's our local Zoo.
Scarlett and Violet (my granddaughters)
I don't know how many lights they put up - but it is truly amazing.

They have a train out there - it runs around the property. It's so fun to ride on.
Angela and Scarlett on the train.
At one point it goes through a tunnel of lights. Oh my gosh it's so cool.

However, the seats are a bit narrow and my fanny and my son-in-law's barely fit on it.
Bad picture, I know.

They also had a carousel.
Violet and Scarlett having fun.

Lily had fun on it too!  You can see lights on the trees in the background.

They had a big tent with games, hot chocolate, cookies, popcorn, Santa and even an orchestra. The music was outstanding.  Lily was in awe and stood smiling for the longest time.  It was great fun.

I'll be cooking dinner for the family on Christmas Day. Somehow that always falls to the Mom.  Hehehe  It will be a joy.

Many Blessing this year to you and yours.
May all your Candy Cane Dreams come true.

FNwF

Yep it's that time again!
And I'm going to be quilting!
I've finished 4 of my 12 BOM squares.
I've started on the center star - then ran out of black thread.
What???
That's like running out of flour for a baker!
Look out Friday!  Here I come!

Updating:  Friday Morning - Black thread is bought, bobbin is loaded and pink triangles are being quilted!
I have to go to work - but I'll be back to stitch with you all this evening.  I really can't wait!!

Happy Friday Stitching with Friends,
Linda
Friday Evening update:  UGH  I have to get up at super early in the morning and go build a 64 foot fence.  So - it's off to bed for me.  At least I was able to Sew with Friends a little bit in the morning.

Flowers in My Yard

As I was getting ready for work this morning I noticed these pretty
white and pink flowers.

The Star Mum - I love this silly looking flower.

I also noticed that my bulbs have started coming up.
Look at those babies grow and multiply!
There's about to be a lot of Dutch Iris flowers.

And there are still some roses blooming.

The Hibiscus

Marzipan photo bomb this one.

I did some quilting last night - we shall NOT talk about that since I had to rip it all out.

Happy Stitching,
Nicey Linda

Quilting under the Full Moon

Full Moon - this picture was taken late evening.
The moon is just so bright it almost looks like the sun.
I love the way it's reflected in the water too.
I didn't stay out there too long.  I had to get inside to quilt!

The first step is thread.  I bought this pretty pink.

And have I told you lately how much I LOVE Janey Mae?
Mark insisted that I get this table when we bought the machine.
Thank you Mark, I never would have bought it and it makes life so much easier.
I can take a blank block like this...
smooth it out and mark it
on that clear table and then quilt it.
That table really helps with the drag on the queen size quilt too.
I don't have the picture - but I did finish this block on Sunday.  (Yay!)

In other news I have before and after pictures of Miss Marzipan.
BEFORE

AFTER
And here she is with her cute little bows - which only lasted one day.  Hahaha
She is sooo sooo soft!  She feels just like minky.
I was thinking of making a Christmas Minky pillow, however, with her around I really don't need one.  hahaha

Happy Stitching,

Tired Dogs and Quilting Designs

Halloween Night I dressed the dogs - and took the them and the kids Trick or Treating.  We had a blast.

Check Neptune out - After coming back home, she can't even lift her head she is so exhausted.
Scarlett - as a sugar skull, Lily as a cat in the background drinking water. And Neptune as a pumpkin.
Since I walk the dogs everyday I was really surprised.  Maybe being a pumpkin is much harder than I think.  (LOL)  I love wearing her out!
So I put that baby to bed.

I had to stop quilting on Tuesday to sew patches on Troy's Boy Scout uniform. I only had about 10 minutes as his meeting was that night.
He ran in the house, grabbed his shirt and said "gotta go Grandma - bye". Boys gotta love them!

I quilted another border - forgot to take a picture. (darn!)  And I've been working on more designs.

Design #1

Design #2

Design #3
(Decide I don't like this one after all.)

When I have time I'll continue quilting on it.
First I have 70 ft of 3 rail wood fence to haul away and rebuild.
Hard to work when you want to quilt.

Happy Sewing,
Nicey Linda

Someone told me quit procrastinating and start quilting!

I plan to go to the pumpkin patch with the family tonight.  I hope to continue quilting on Tuesday.  (No one is holding their breath for that one right?)

In other news.  Marzipan insists she has only been napping while I quilted - but her nose says she's been outside digging.  Silly girl.

I lighted Marzipan up in this picture - otherwise you can't see her she is so black.

Marzipan was out playing with Lily.
They were looking for frogs.
And running with Neptune.
How was your weekend?  Did you get some sewing done?
