Still Enjoying Frolicing

Well maybe not.
So many times I have to rip out the same seam over and over trying to get those points right.
But eventually I get a block done.  I think it is so pretty.
Then I end up spending lots more time with Jack the ripper on the next block.
I mean LOTS more time.
Stupid block.
And then I fall in love with it again. I'll start enjoying the sewing and can't wait to start another one.

My goal has been to sew one block per night.  As of last night I have 12 completed.  Almost half way done!

Frolic - Last of the Clues

Oooh - today is the day!
The big reveal of Frolic.
I had no problem getting clue 8 finished up.
I just worked all weekend on it.  LOL

Here are all my pieces (clues 1-8) bagged and sorted.
Now to start on part 9 and putting it all together!

I ran out of blue fabric - so since we need just a smidge more I ran to the fabric store at lunch and bought some more.
I can't wait to get working on it.

I wanted to tell you also about these TrueGrips.
I have Eleanor Burns' flying geese rulers. I love the set but they can be slippery on the fabric. I used these little grips, they are see through, very thin and work like a charm.
I love them and I'll be putting them on a lot more of my rulers.  Totally worth the five dollars. And they were delivered by Amazon - what could be easier?

We received a coupon with one of our Christmas orders for a case of assorted wine.
This is just not something I would buy. I'm just not into different wines.
However, we did.  I can not believe I'm happy with it. (How do you like our ice bucket?)
It's so fun to do something out of character.
It's fun to look forward to a wine, you may like, you may not, but it's a surprise.

It certainly puts some fun in life.

Hmmm... it seems I like mysteries; Frolic and my wines

Okay - sew it's back to sewing.

Serious Sewing - Frolic Clue 7

Okay - just to let you know when I get serious about finishing a quilt. I commandeer the dinning room table.  I stop doing house work. Yep.  I said it.  I just don't get around to doing it.  If I'm real serious about finishing I don't cook.
Being behind on the clues made me go into Serious Sewing Mode. I was worried what new hubby would say as I stopped sitting with him on the couch to watch movies, instead I sit on the floor to cut.  I took over the table   I stopped cleaning. (I'm not sure he has noticed that.)

He is so supportive. He saw I was sewing, he didn't say a word, just simply made us dinner.  He told me that as much as he loves for me to sit with him, he loves that I'm passionate about my quilting.   (Aww - he's a keeper!)

Frolic Clue #8 comes out today.
(clap, clap, clap. I'm sew excited!)

Whew!  I finished Clue # 7 last night at 10:30!
I don't usually stay up that late, but I was in "gonna get this done" mode!

Pinwheels!
Pinwheels are always fun to sew.  Most of my points are good.  A couple are so-so.  I can live with that.
Sew - I know what I'm doing this weekend.
What about you?

Have a great weekend
and Happy Stitching!

Cutting for Hours (FNwF Results & OMG)

Honestly I don't know what is wrong with me. Why does it take hours to cut these pieces for Frolic?  Is it because there are so many? Or because my darn rotary blade is dull again, and my mat has been worn out for oh... just a couple years?

Look - this is what I purchased!  I'm SUPER excited about it.
Lori Holts's Cutting Mat from the Fat Quarter Shop.  This one is TeaRose & Honey
It is so pretty! AND a different color pink than my other mat.
PLUS it has the yellow on the back - with all the ruler lines so you can utilize both sides.

And check this out: little dots for the half inch - so much easier.
And my favorite - Scallops (So girly!) on the edges.
Makes it even easier for cutting.

I wasn't sure about cutting on the yellow side in the evening with the lamp lighting but it was very easy.

I also changed that blade and cut and cut and cut.  The new mat and blade really cut down on my cutting time - but better yet - made it more enjoyable.

This new mat helps my blade stay sharp much longer.
All the wings to my geese.

And my wings becoming geese.

I love the blue and green together.

Others are still a mystery - more geese? Some other block?
I have finished up clue # 6. Yay

Clue #7 is cut and waiting for me to sew.
I'll get started on that right after work.

Happy Stitching,
Linda

Oh I almost forgot I'm linking up with Patty of
January's goal is to finish up Frolic.

FNwF and Frolic

It is FRIDAY, I get to sew with all of you!

I was super happy that I'm almost caught up on the Frolic Mystery quilt.
BUT then I looked on Facebook and saw that Bonnie had given another clue.

What??  Wait, I thought the clues only came out on Fridays.

Oh that Bonnie!!  She slipped a good one in while I wasn't looking!
She had added another one on New Year's Day.
This is my almost finished clue #5. I need to cut off those dog ears and make sure the measurements are correct.

Clue #6 is to cut some lovely greens and make flying geese.  I've been looking through my stash again, and I've found these fabrics.

Alrighty then, I'll consider this a Super Challenge and work to complete Clue #6 and 7.

I'm linking up with Gone Stitchin' FNwF

Happy Stitching,
Linda
