Two Silly Stories, My Echo Quilting & More Fabric

I have a little funny to tell you.
My hubby and I were about to walk over to this Carl's Jr for lunch.
We were stopped my a "homeless?" man asking for money for a burger at McDonald's.

So my hubby handed him the change in his pocket - it wasn't very much. Not enough for a burger.

The guy looked at it - said he didn't want it and THREW it at us!

YOU:  Really??
ME: Yes!! I was so SHOCKED!

Oh my!  I just had to laugh.  That was so funny.  I suppose if he had earned the change - instead of begging for it, then he would appreciate it more.

So we picked up our change and went to lunch.

In sewing news -
I've made my first attempt at free-motion quilting on my new machine.  I'm not happy with the results.  But that's okay.  I just need practice.
The echoing is all free-motion.

And I've been shopping!
I went to a discount fabric store and bought fabric for blouses.
I'm really anxious to start sewing the pink little flowers. I guess I'm in a pink mood.

I do have one more little funny to tell you.

This morning I went round and round with Mark about whether it was Tuesday or Thursday.  I think it’s Tuesday and he insists it’s Thursday.  Hey, I was willing to compromise at Wednesday, but NO he still insists it’s Thursday.

Well, whatever day this is, have fun!

Wedding Bells

Well, of course I have to talk about the wedding.

It was a BLAST!
Us - fake laughing - me, my sister Cindy - mom of the groom. Then photo bombing strange man, My daughter Rosanna, and my daughter Serena.

The wedding vows were so touching a sweet - not to mention funny.
Travis, the groom, promised to love her,
Brenda, no matter how many abandoned, sick and lonely kitties she adopted.

She comes from a big cat family - and he's allergic.
I tell you, it's true love.

Travis did good, Brenda is one of the sweetest girls I've ever met.

We ate tacos and wedding cake,
danced and had a merry time.

Even little Lily danced - holding her cracker.

So until next time -

Two of my crazy daughters!

Finished Dish Towels for the Newlyweds

Here are the dish towels all finished and ready to be wrapped.

I couldn't believe it but I had some fabric that matched.
My daughter found it at a garage sale.

I just winged it for the edging.  Here's what I did - I cut the fabric 1 inch wide.

I then ironed the strip in half - and then ironed each of the edges 1/4 inch toward the center

At the machine, I tuck the dish towel edge into the center of the binding.
I was careful to leave a nice amount so the machine wouldn't "trip" over it.  I cut that off later.

I sewed right along the edge, tucking the towel in as I sewed.
After cutting off the excess binding on the ends - I sewed the bottom part of the binding so they don't unravel

I think the Happy Couple will like them.
And they are finished BEFORE the wedding!

Happiness is Seeing Some Progress

I've been working on the dish towels.
This is just a nice little "extra" to put in with their wedding gift.

I'm still working on this one.  Their last name is Wolf.
This will say:
Wolf
Est. 2015
I  still have to finish off the edges of the towels.
I may make a little fabric binding or maybe machine hem and then do a blanket stitch in dark grey embroidery thread.
I like the idea of a hem and blanket stitch.  But that would take more time.
And I'm determined to finish this up over the weekend.

Happy Stitching,

I had to put the brakes on my sewing.

Just for this week.
My husband's mother and brother have come out from New Mexico to visit.

Don't you hate when that happens?  You have to stop sewing and clean the house?  Such a rude awakening.

I did, however, cut out and get this little summer blouse made.
It's for my daughter - It's nothing to sew up, as there's hardly any fabric to it.  (or seams!)
Also, I've been working on the dish towels.
Time is running out on this project as it's for a wedding this month.  But even that deadline threat doesn't make me work on it.

Tonight I'll get it out while we are visiting.  (I promise.)

Happy Stitching,
Linda
