Which one should I choose?

Here we are with the last weekend of February.   I have my main project for February completed.  So now I get to pick something else.

Of course I have plenty to choose from. I've narrowed it down to these three:

Scarlett's skirt, it's been hanging around for a while. (Since school started?)

That star quilt which for some reason I just can't seem to get the courage to cut my next border.

And the new monstrosity that I created last weekend.  It's going to be a dog blanket, but I totally don't like it  And silly me I used cat fabric instead of dog fabric.  What is wrong with me?  The words on the fabric say Meow.   What made me think this was dog fabric?

Also I wanted to tell you I have another February Finish.

I finally finished this beanie today.  Oh Happy Day for ME!

This is the first time I've tried a making a beanie. The pattern I used must of come from "Big Heads 4 Us". It was so huge on my head, I had to rip it out and redo it. In fact I had to redo it several times (4 to be exact!) decreasing the the stitches and making it smaller. And today I learned to make the flower. Pretty cool huh? It was really easy. And now I'm done! YAY!!!!

One last thing - my co-worker finished the 1st part of Pat Sloan's Mystery quilt.  Doesn't it look nice?
We are really looking forward to the next set of instructions!

Charming Girls February Finish and Judy's UFO Challenge Finish

I'm so happy I finished the bom quilt.  It's my finish for Judy's UFO Challenge and The Charming Girls February Goals.

I love this quilt. I love the fabrics. I loved piecing each block. I loved designing my own birdhouse block and adding the extras to some of the other blocks.  This past year it was my goal to learn to free motion quilt and I love that I was able to do a custom quilting job on it and make it even more special.   I also love that it goes so well in my livingroom. And that it's a good size for cuddling up with.
I took the picture in poor lighting so it does not show as vibrant as it is in person.
Next up for my finishes for the Charming Girls Club is Pat Sloan mystery quilt.  Yeah, it does look at little rough, a little wrinkled and a little off on the cutting - but that will all be worked out soon enough.

I still have this weekend so I may finish up my last goal of the month which is to get the borders on the star quilt.

Friday Night Sew-in Results

I'm so pleased to say I do have results!
This block went from this...
To this!!!
And see that unquilted border above ?  Well, it now is quilted....

with some leaves and circles.

And I also finished quilting the birdhouse block.

I even quilted my name in the block.  Can you see it in the corner?

I also got my binding ready.  It's sitting on top my new ironing board cover.  I love that new cover my sister gave me for Christmas.  If you need a new cover, you got to get you a sister like mine, who will give you gifts that make you so happy!!
Does anything make you more happy than having the binding on and cutting the batting?  I'm so excited to have the quilting finished that I'm doing the Happy Dance today!!  I'll be doing it all day!!

I love hand sewing on the binding so I'll finish that up while watching TV tonight.

Just for the fun of it here's the back.  I did much better than I thought I would.

I also worked on the Pat Sloan Mystery Quilt.

Here are the fabrics I picked out.  The lightest one has sparkles.

I sewed up the background.  Do you all think I should take out that dark fabric and just use light ones?

And see how I cut my squares the wrong sizes?  Yeah, I do that at night - cut wrong.  When will I ever learn not to cut late at night?  Well, I think that's enough for now.  I'm off to see what everyone else has done.

It's Here! Friday Night Sew-in!

It's Here! Well, it's almost here - just one more day.  Hosted this month by Crafty Vegas Mom.

These types of sew-ins are a real kick in the pants for me.  I get so much done - and I love seeing what everyone else is working on.

Of course I know what I'll be working on - quilting that quilt.   You know the one - the same one I post about every other day or so.  I know you are tired of seeing that old quilt so here's a cute picture instead.

Serena, Kitkat and Puppy

It may be "same old same old" as far as posting is concerned but it is really coming along.  Just one more block and then the borders.  YEA!!  Maybe I'll finish quilting it this weekend.
I think I need some good movies - not too good that I want to sit and actually "watch" them. Just good enough that I'll sit and "listen" to them, keeping my eyes on the quilting.  What movies do you will to watch while sewing?

Pat Sloan's Mystery Quilt is Starting this Month

Oh I have some exciting news! Pat Sloan is doing another Mystery Quilt.  I told my co-worker about it and she was so enthused she ran out and purchased her fabrics right away.  These are hers.  Aren't they nice?

The thing that I've noticed about Pat's quilts is they are very unique.  That's very appealing to me. And this will be a 6 month Mystery.  Good!!  I really don't want a long term commitment.

Well, with that kind of excitement, I told me daughter about it and she wants to do it too!  We still need to get our fabrics. Those will be posted later.

Hamburger Cupcakes

Serena made these for her friends. Sesame seeds were used on the "buns".
She baked brownies for the "burgers".
Frosting for the "lettuce" and "cheese".
This is not something I would normally eat.  But since she made me one too,
I had to eat it.
Oh My!! It was so delicious!!!

I like having a girl in the house that can bake.

When I first started cooking I started with desserts.
It's about time Serena is finally doing something like me!
Although I'll admit her desserts are much more creative then mine.
I'm so happy that she is making desserts.  And such fun ones.

Time for UFO Challenge and Setting February Goals

For Judy's UFO Challenge this month I will be working  finishing the Gathered from the Garden Quilt. I think I'll rename it too.  Usually my quilts in up with names like 10 year quilt (because it took 10 years to make it) or BOM quilt.  They need some better names don't you think?  Any ideas?

And for my February goals - remember last month I didn't make any.  Good thing cause I didn't finish anything either!!  LOL!!  For February I have high hopes and they start with my water color star quilt.  My goal is to finish piecing it.  Okay maybe that is too high.  How about I at least take off the small lavender border and put on larger lavender border.

Then I can think and stew over it some more.  A couple quilters suggested that I put on a piano key border.  That might be next after the lavender border.

And after that...I'm going finish up...well, I could say that skirt for Scarlett like I do every month and then never even cut out or that bag that desperately needs repair.  But why curse a good thing.  I'll stop at two items.  After all this is a short month!

What's on your list this month?

Quilting progress and a Serena's Surprise

I've been quilting - and I'm at least half way done with this quilt.  Funny, last night I didn't need any stencils to help me in the design process.  Everything just flowed.  This is my birdie block that I'm working on.

Okay - now for something a little more exciting and fun.

Ready?

Cupcakes!  Not exciting enough?  Well look inside!

Aren't these the neatest things?  The colors in person were much more vivid.  Serena made these.  This is the first time she has baked and all I can say is she really does it fancy!!  What would you expect from a candy apple red hair girl?  They were so good - I'm going to try to get her to make some more this weekend. Yum!!
