FNSI update

I've just been Frolicking along. 

You know I have a love/hate relationship with Frolic.

And right now I'm in the LOVE part.

I love sewing on this quilt. I've been putting the blocks together in rows and adding the thin sashing between the rows.

I did figure out that I measured some of the blocks in the sashing wrong. Yikes! So now I have quiet a few that I'll be ripping out, cutting and restitching. But at least I know what's wrong and why the blocks are not fitting together nicely.

I'll continue on for the rest of the evening then tomorrow I'll be helping Bruce re-organize and paint the garage.  What a job!  But I love him, so I'll willingly help him.  It's a good stay at home project.

Finished the Pincushion

It's been a rough two weeks. 

I'm finally feeling better. 

I haven't done any sewing until today. Actually I haven't done anything, except laze around trying to get well. 

I had made this little pincushion on Feb 29th.  But then I got the flu and I finally was able to stuff and finished him today.

I have Frolic to work on which requires so much pinning! I needed a rather flat pincushion to stick pins in without worrying about hitting buttons or what-nots. I don't think his ears will trouble me much.  I do think his ears turned out so cute.  I sewed him up at work by hand. I'm not into that hand stitching much - I would rather machine stitch. 

At any rate, I finally felt good enough to sew ONE - yes just ONE sashing and now I have two blocks sewn together.  

I need to work on my taxes - and I'm hoping that I can get some more Frolic blocks sewn together this weekend.

Little Mouse Pincushion & Frolic

 I think I've gotten to the place where I can start laying out the blocks.

I'm so glad Bonnie explained how to lay these out. It was confusing just looking at the picture. But she said start with 4 rows across and 4 rows down.

 Then start filling in the rest.  When I'm looking at these in person I can't see if any need to be moved around.  I like taking a snap shot and then it is easier to let my eyes relax and just see the colors and values.

After that I have more blocks and strips to add.

I promised myself I would work on this every single day. And I have.

This last week I sewed up the sashing strips. Now I know for me, a Bonnie Hunter Mystery is gonna take much longer than the January reveal date.

 I have realized that I need a pincushion!  (Lots of pinning needed still for Frolic.) I always just take them in a out of the little plastic box.  I used to have a Granny pin cushion, but I had to be so careful to stick pins in only certain places. Looking online I found  this little Mouse on Pinterest.

I thought this would be perfect - nice and flat to stick pins in anywhere. I figured it would only take about an hour to stitch up.  

Well...I have my supplies gathered and it's already taken 1/2 hour to decide on fabrics!

I'll be back later - I'm off to hand stitch this little guy.

What?  You want to see the fabric?

Frolic Update (Working on Clue 9)

It's time for me to start the next segment of the Frolic Clue #9. (Clue 9 consists of quite a few different parts).  

We are to use some of the already sewn pieces from clue 2. Some pieces cut during Clue 9 - and now we will combine them into ???  Well, I'll don't rightly know - but I'm about to find out. I think they will be going on the the main blocks.

I sewed my little heart out last weekend - I actually sewed from 7 am to 7:30 pm with a some breaks thrown in and I have finished this part of Clue 9. 

These are the triangle settings and corner squares. 

 All done and looking pretty. 

 Oh on further inspection...What happened here?

Marzipan do you do that?

It should look like this - back to the sewing machine it goes!

FNwF Update

I'm so excited to sew that I woke up at 4:30!

First I had to go for a walk.  Marzipan is used to going and I knew she wouldn't stop bugging me if I didn't.  Crying and barking would ensue until I relented. Beside I need the exercise. 

This picture was taken at Estes Park, Colorado.  It was WAY TOO DARK this morning to take one.

So I hurried up my walk and getting ready for work.

And then I started on my love, Frolic.

Turns out I have quite a few blocks done.

It really is quite fun.

I laid out the blocks I've finished.

Come to find out - I only have 5 more blocks to do. Then I'll start on the triangle settings.

I can't wait for to start sewing again tonight.

Friday Night with Friends

Friday is just around the corner!!

Of course I'll be stitching with Cheryll of Gone Sitchin' and FNwF

I'll be working on Frolic. I've been doing so well.  I've worked on it every night, and each night I complete one block.  

I'm a little disappointed to be spending so much time on this quilt. (I had other plans for other projects.) BUT, really what did I expect?  I can look at past Bonnie Hunter quilts and SEE that there's a lot of pieces.  And a lot of pieces means a lot of sewing. And I noticed on past mysteries quite a few people took forever to finish them up.  Now I understand why.  LOL

In other news - hubby wants to reorganize and paint the garage. UGH!!  

But when we are done it will be sooo nice!

And I joined Embroidery.com Cross-Stitch+Hand Embroidery Group on Facebook for their February stitch 30 minutes a day challenge.  #IlovetoStitch.
