Getting the Living Daylights Scared Out of Me!

Just so you know how things are for me.

I'm sitting there on the couch Saturday morning - and what should wake up and walk out of my daughter's room???

Oh my gosh she scared me so bad!!!

You do remember from last October that she's involved in a charity that puts on a Haunted House?  Well she's doing it again this year. I ought to be used to do it, but still I just wasn't expecting something so creepy before my morning coffee!

Here's a picture of her in the haunted house with her co-actor.  They put on a little skit several hundred times per night.

Would you agree that life is never dull with kids?

Pools are Amazing

Did you know that every 5 years or so you have to drain a pool?

I didn't  know until we got ours.

Draining is so much fun.

To me it's just fascinating seeing the water level get lower and lower

 KitKat thinks it's amazing too.

"Mommy!  There's something wrong with the Pool!!!

Something worth calling your friends about.

It fun to go explore places that used to be underwater.

If you were a kid, wouldn't you sit in the pool and text?

Mom!  You're bugging me!!!

Oh!  You are still there taking pictures?

Sugar getting brave and venturing into the nice warm water.

Kit Kat loved it and thought we should always keep the pool this shallow
.
She splashed and waded
 Drank
And thought this was the best pool day ever!!!

Corn Maze

Do you all have a corn maze where you live?  When you go through are you afraid of being stuck in there forever?

Our family decided to go this year.  I heard if you always go left you will end up at the end.
Here's proof -  chillaxing at the end of the corn maze. I love getting candid shots of the family.

Waiting for the next go around inside the maze.  I love the way the two girls act so much alike!

And I love the posed photos too!
Just a word to the wise, if you have a big o' mustache,
you have to smile "BIG" so that people can see your teeth.

If you've got one, go check out your local corn maze and have some fun.

Friday Night Sew-In (Just a few days late!)

I signed up for Friday Night Sew-in and I did sew Friday night.
But did I post on Saturday? No of course not!

So - I guess I'll do that now.

See here's what I worked on.  The Stay at Home Round Robin.
I cut it down - and made it square.   Then added a green border.

Just a little green border.  Then I fussed and planned and even used graph paper (Thanks Sunny for teaching me how!!!) and came up with a huge triangle border.

Don't worry - it will look better when I get done with it.

Then I went to bed, and in the middle of the night I woke up and I started stewing.
It's not right and I want to change the design a bit.
Uhhh.... this is why I like patterns so that they tell me what to do and I'm not waking up in the middle of the night to change my mind about the design!

Okay so back to the drawing board - otherwise known as graph paper.

I re-sized my my triangle to a slightly smaller one.

See how the triangle how aligns with the center of the square instead of with the borders?
Yes, this will work!  I'll show you later, after I sew it what I have in mind.

And believe it or not that's all I accomplished in sewing over the weekend!

Good Morning - It's Another Cheery Tuesday!

Good Morning!

And who wouldn't be happy with seeing that smiling face?

I have another picture for you.  Remember that pan of Chicken Curry?  It prompted my daughter to make her own pot - which she sent to me.

Yeah, it's not that yummy looking is it?

You have to know how good it tastes to appreciate these pictures- and even then it's a bit hard to do.

So how about I tell you about sewing instead.

Oh, Dear I can't do that, because there's none of that going on at my house!  LOL!!  Maybe I'll get more in the mood later.

How about a couple pictures from South Dakota instead?
We rode our motorcycle through Spearfish Canyon back in August.   It was one the best rides I've been on.  It was so lovely there! We would stop every so often and hike to a waterfall.

Here's one of the three waterfalls we saw

And a cute little building - Hey I didn't notice that man standing there before!  How did he get in my picture?  I must of been too busy looking at the trees when I took this picture.

And the last one - of Mark and me.  Awwwe - and another waterfall behind us.

We had such a great time there.

Okay tomorrow it's back to posts about sewing and quilting.

Chocolate Lemans Cake and Spaghetti Cupcakes

Remember that night we went to the fair?  That's right, it was a couple weeks ago.  Well, my Chef son-in-law had requested me to make him Chocolate Lemans Cake, which isn't even a cake for his birthday.  And my DD2 had requested DD3 to make him Spaghetti Cupcakes as a surprise.  Are you keeping up with this?  Let me say it clearly; the Chef is getting TWO desserts on his birthday.

When I got home from the Fair Serena was already working on the cupcakes.  I set to work on the Chocolate Lemans Cake.

My kitchen has NEVER looked this messy!  I just had to snap a picture.  We laughed and giggled as we worked together on our two separate desserts.

Chocolate Lemans Cake's 1st layer ready to bake

This and That: Give Away, FNSI and Food

At our house our favorite dinner is Chicken Curry.

So to tease my girls, I sent them this text:

"Look what's for Dinner..."

Doesn't that look disgusting? It does look a little better on a plate.  All three of them knew exactly what it was and wanted some.

Now here's some pictures of what my son in law made today - did I tell you he is a chef?

I guess I don't have to say he's a SUPER good chef do I?

Okay enough with the food.

Here are the pillowcases that were made for my Chef Son-in-Law and his baby boy.

Don't forget Oct 14Th  Oct 21st is Friday Night Sew-in.

I usually sew on Friday Nights and then never post about it. I'm hoping this Saturday I'll do better.

Also - you'll want to know that Stray Stitches is having the Give-Away.  Check out her blog to see about winning HOPE FAMILY FOREVER sponsored by Fat Quarter Shop.

Okay that's all from me today.

Finally, Little Forest Quilt is FINISHED

This was finished on the Friday -but it took me until today to get it posted.
I really like the binding.  I've always admired a stripe cut on the bias and this is the first time I've utilized that technique.

This is a great size for cuddling up with.

Hubby with his first quilt.
I also have to show you Lynn's quilt. So different than than Hubby's as Lynn at Alamosa Quilter used colorful fabrics.

See, is this beautiful or what?

I especially like that she used round circles for the quilting to go along with the dots on her trees.
And she made a wall hanging - which is nice.  (Sorry I can't get the picture larger. When I do it blurs out.)

Remember I found some Halloween fabric at the store - and just had to buy some?  I thought it would be so neat to have Halloween pillowcases.  Here are the girls' pillowcases. (The boys, have to wait - I was tired after making these.)

I let Violet and Scarlett help sew on the machine.  I think their favorite part was taking out the pins.  I even made Rosanna sew up hers. It was kind of easy - I just told DD to do it.  (hehehe - it's fun to be the Mom.)
She said he enjoyed doing it, it was relaxing.

You can't see in the picture - but the fabrics are Candy Corn, Pumpkins and Ghosts and Little Black Cats.

I also made myself a pillowcase.

And Hubby made himself one.
He did not want the little trim fabric.  Imagine that, he has a mind of his own.

And what do you think happened right after I snapped these pictures?  You are right!
Neptune got in the picture!

I think she wants this blog to be about her - not sewing.

Have fun sewing today,
Linda
