Good News: Little Trees as ONE piece.

Now I was thinking (as was Lynn of Alamosa Quilter ) the little trees in the Little Forest Quilt Along would look nice as a single piece.

Here's where we do the Happy Dance!!

Ariane has done a tutorial on a Triangle in a Square!  Check out her tutorial - she has done a great job of explaining how to make these and even gives several sizes.

Ariane's Triangle in a Square blocks - Look! She made different sizes!
How cool is that?

With a little tree trunk this could work .  I'm not sure if the size would be exactly the same as the one in the Little Forest pattern.  I've been thinking of making the quilt a lap size, so for me this would be a good method.

I just thought you might like to know.

  1. I thought of that, too, but I like the look of the taller, narrower tree; or is that just an optical illusion?

  2. ooh, I think I might like that method better! I've been pulling out any green fabric that I find in my scraps/stash.

  4. I did think of that, too, and I'm so glad you gave it a try. I'll link to this! Now I do see how the other method gives the taller, skinnier look. That must be the rationale! Good to have choices!

  6. I had a couple of days off from work due to the aftermath of Irene so I started pulling fabrics and cutting them. I even did a sample block or two. Well we can't count the second one since I was so excited about starting this I put the tree pieces on backward and instead of having a flat bottom tree mine had a point. So now I'm ready to slow down and let the fun begin.
