Angela's Star Quilt - WIP

I feel so guilty working on the Midnight Mystery Quilt when I've had Angela's quilt in the works for probably over ten years.  Yeah - Really.  It's been that long.

What happened was, I was going to the local quilt shop, doing their Star BOM.  Well, I promised the quilt to Angela, but only made 4 blocks.
This was one of the blocks - that's not a star.  I don't care that's it's called Busy Bee Star.  It's NOT a star.

So I made a new one.

Much better. Yes?

I made more star blocks. Most came from Judy Martin.

I added some prairie points around the center feathered star.

I now have that sewn up.
Now to add a black border around the outside.

And then???   I'm not sure.....

But at least I've done something.
I'm just so happy to have started working on it again.

Oh and I did do a bit on the Midnight Mystery - I cut the fabric.

Framed Snowflake & Midnight Mystery Fabric

My center block - put on point with a 1/4 flange and small border.  Measures 25 1/2".

So does Sophie (of Sophie Junction) know what she is talking about?

YES!!

How did she know that?  I know she's great at this quilting stuff, but still how did she know?

Thanks Sophie for the suggestion!

What do you think of these fabrics?  I really wanted to do this mystery quilt along.  On Sunday I saw and fell in love with these fabrics. So I bought them for this. I'm wondering if that directional fabric will be make me sorry.

All the fabric is washed and ironed.  It took forever to rinse the extra dye from that black.  It's worth it.

Okay - check back later.  I have to get sewing and catch up on the quilt along.

Happy Stitching,
Nicey Linda

At it Again - Angela's Quilt

I've decided to haul out Angela's Quilt once again.

Lets see - that center block needed squaring up.

And I don't know how I'm going to put it together.

The center block is 15 1/2 - the rest of the block are 12.

A five inch border with Prairie Points?

Some how I need to get the 12 inches blocks and the 15 inch center block into a nice (and mathematical) layout.

I'm just happy to be working on it again.  I only work on it about once a year. And each time something major is accomplished.  Last year was the center block and the year before was completing the 12 inch blocks.

Happy Stitching,
Nicey Linda

Dog Gone Cute Quilt Along

I found this at Sew Fresh Quilts
Sew Fresh Quilts

Quilt Alongs are always so much fun
Since it started Sept 1st it's shouldn't be to hard to catch up.

I'm thinking a little scrappy dog quilt might be fun.

My Turtle are Swimming - Finished!

Oh - there's nothing like a finished project!  I love going from this:

To this:
And I did it in only 6 months!  hahahaha
Good thing there is no Quilt Police!!!

It felt so good to get out my sewing machine - start sewing on the most beautiful blue batik, with my coffee right there.   There's the clear table that came with my sewing machine.  It's so large - I love it.  Not just because I can use it for coffee either.  But because it makes free motion quilting easier.

I got bold and used blue thread and went around the edge  -

sort of creates a double edging - Yay!

So YES I'm happy with it.

Now I don't know where to hang it.  Isn't that the way it goes?

Happy Stitching,
Linda

Camping at Morro Bay State Park

Hey There!

We just came back from vacation.

I think Camping is my favorite kind of vacation.

Camping can be work - but I love being out in nature!
We went to Morro Bay, Californa.

Between the trees you can see the famous Morro Rock.
It looks little here - but it's really quite large.

We took some walks on the beach. That's always fun.
I love watching all the birds.

Finding shells - I only take pictures- I don't pick up anything.

This time there was this really cool green sponge.  I hadn't seen this before.

And lots of sand dollars that were eating as the tide came in and out.

I hope you are enjoying the end of summer too.
Linda
