Inside the Green Bag

Well, since I had so much fun with the stocking, I want to continue doing some hand embroidery.

And I know just where to go.

The Green Bag
Yes, it's been years since I looked in this green bag.

But I knew I wanted to go right to it and get started on my next project.

I sorted out the scraps of fabric and floss and paper patterns to find
Val Laird's BOM.
I do not even remember how many years ago I started this.

I found the next one to work on.
So this will be my project for the month of February. (Unless I finish it before - then I'll pick something else.)
Of course, after this much time I don't remember how to do needle turn applique. I'll have to figure it out or Youtube it.  Or maybe try that method where you sew around and then turn it inside out.

Happiness is finding and working on the next block.

TA DA! First 2019 Finish

My First Finish (for 2019)

I worked on this all weekend.
It started with FNSI

I made the little candy canes, then the paint brush.

Then I worked on Bruce's name tag.

Oh yeah, I also did the red hanging tab, holly leaves and berries.

I enjoyed doing the tag.

I also did the clothesline and attached all the toys.

Which was fun because I knew I was almost DONE!
And Bruce truly appreciated all the work that went into this.

So I will let it hang for a week or so then I'll pack it away.

In the meanwhile I'm so happy to have a finished project.
And now it's on to the next one.  Nothing like a finish to make you think you can accomplish even more!

Friday Night Sew In.

It's Here! It's Here!

I love stitching with all of you on Friday Night.

This is what I'm working on. (Brucilla Stocking)
I've finished the car and now I'm working on the candy canes.
They are tiny!  And I guess that makes them more fun. Hahaha

I'm watching Amazon Prime, a series that is still on TV called Suits.  It's soooo good!  It you have Prime check it out.

Doll Finished & More Toys

 Little toy doll all finished.
I like her, I think she turned out soooo cute.  I love the ribbons in her hair.
The instructions called for red ribbons - but I made them blue.  Bruce would like me to turn her into an angel. But to me, Santa would make a doll not an angel.

Also here's the train I finished.
It turned out good too.
I photographed these on top of the instructions. Which makes a good background.

And this is the little house I started last night.  I still have to add the back of the house, then stuff it. It has a shadow on it because as I was taking the picture Marzipan jumped on the bed.  I was going to retake the picture but I was getting ready for work. I forget lots of things when I'm trying to rush out of the house.  hehehe

Tonight I'll be back at it.  I'm wondering if I'll be able to get these done before the end of the month.  It's a RACE!  Which will be first? Me and the stocking or Midnight, Jan 31st.  Really more like 8:30 pm, Jan 31st.  Hahaha

Little Doll, Zombies & Clean up

Isn't she cute?

We were having so much fun over the weekend that she didn't quite get finished.  I still need to make her little arms.

The directions called for embroidering her shoes on. That's for the birds!
I cut some black felt and sewed them on.  My satin stitch is not that good to be making shoes.  I did embroider the shoe straps.

I did finish the little train - but forgot to take a picture. I'll do that for the next post.
We all got together and played Zombicide!

Here's the difference between Bruce and me.  I don't know the rules, but I'll just play and ask for help as my turn comes around.  I'll figure it out as we go.

Bruce on the other hand wants to know how to play, what the object of the game is etc, etc.  I think the whole object is to just laugh as we play!  I don't care if we win, lose or die.   The above picture is of Bruce asking about the rules and Rex, who has his hand to his mouth explaining.  The rest of us girls are enjoying life and taking pictures!  We don't get too serious!

In this game we play as one team - Us VS the Zombies.
And one little girl toy since we didn't have enough markers.

Three serious Zombie Killers about to attack Zombies!
My son in laws: Rex, Dan and my grandson Troy.

We had a BLAST.  And we won the game not the Zombies.

The really good news is

I reorganized and cleaned out the linen closet!

Before:

After:
I hauled off three garbage bags of towels, rags and old sheets.

I thought that closet would only take 45 mins to do.  It ended up being most of the morning.  All I can say is Never Again!  Well, I say it but you know it will get out of hand, and I'll be organizing it again.  LOL

Teddy Bear's Tie

I had a blast working on this tie with Bruce.

First I don't really know the actual shape of the tie.  It took several attempts.  It had to have little notches near the knot and the right length I think it's looking good.

Then Bruce thought wouldn't it be cool to have a little cross on the tie.

And wah-la!  A little bear with a tie.

That's one more toy attached to the stocking.

I started working on the train. But gave up when bedtime rolled around.

I'll be working on this over the weekend.  And my other plan is to clean out my linen closet.  Boy oh Boy is it a MESS! I'll snap a before and after photo.

So that's it for me today.
What's on your schedule for the weekend?

Bearly Making Progress

I am determined to get this stocking done this month.

I worked on it over the weekend.

Spent most of Sunday watching TV and stitching.
And the little horse went from this
to this!
Then Monday I added a ball
Oooh!  I had such high hopes.  One toy a day and I would surely be finished by the end of the month.

And then I started Teddy Bear.

And this was all that I finished in one night.
And I still didn't finish it last night.  (Almost but not quite.) And I sew for 2 1/2 hours or so.
Although he is adorable.
I need to add a Bow to the collar.  However, Bruce wants a tie instead.
WHAT??  How wonderful that he wants to change it and make it his own.
That's the way I like to do thing too.

So maybe he will get a tie.  How hard can a tie be?

In the meanwhile we are having rain and fog and glorious skies.
 Views from my front yard
 early in the morning.

Now back to stitching,
Linda

FNWF (Update) & Jan OMG

I'm late getting my Friday Night with Friends post up.
Thanks Cheryll!

However, I did stitch with everyone on and had a good time doing it.

I worked on Bruce's stocking.
  I did the paint cans
Saturday and Sunday I worked on the Red Rocking Horse
Each item is a bit of work.
And I almost finished him, but not quite.
Sunday night I had to give up and hop into bed.

I'll be back at it again tonight!
This is my first goal for the New Year.
My plan is to finish it by the end of the month - and I'm joining Elm Street Quilts' One Monthly Goal.

Happy Stitching,
Linda

2019 Goals - Word Up

This past year I was smart enough to realize that my life would be taking a different turn since I'm married to Bruce. I wanted to be free to change and go with the flow of being married to someone different.  Someone with different ideas of having fun.  It's been a wonderful year.  I was ready to change and not be concerned about quilting.

I wanted to get back into needlework -  which I didn't do until the end of year. But Hey, I finally did!
And I love that I'm teaching my girls to embroider.

I did finish my one quilt. And I really enjoyed it. So that's good.
Neptune - Killer of all stuffed Teddy Bears

Neptune in fabric form
My goal for last year was to just relax and enjoy life.  That took the turn of  many pool parties, learning to cook for a new husband, letting my little darling daughter go as she left for a new adventure in Colorado, and healing a bit more from the passing of Mark.

My Word Up for 2018 was Surrender.  I did want to surrender myself to God, to being married to Bruce, to living my life in a relaxed manner.

This year - my Word Up is
huh, I don't have one yet.  I'll get back to this.

So this year, my goals in life will be:
1.  Finish just one more quilt.
Yep that's not much - but I want to enjoy it. Not be a work horse.
Marzipan knows how to have fun on a quilt.
2.  Finish the Bucilla Stocking for Bruce.  This is fun, fun, fun.  I love it.
   3. Save money so that we can buy a Motor-home/Travel Trailer. That means no spending. (Bummer!) But I can make gifts and that will be a blast!

4.  Continue to purge and organize the house.  It's so much better, but it needs some work.  I'm thinking that linen closet should be first on the list.

DELIGHT - That's my Word Up!

That's it!  That's my word for the year.  I want to delight in the Lord, delight in my new husband and life, delight in the girls having their own lives, delight in the crafts that I do, delight in caring for my home, in cooking and cleaning. And delight in everyday life, no matter what comes my way.

My Sister Cindy and Me - Delighted to be with each other.
DELIGHT
I want to take pleasure in what God has given me, to appreciate it, revel in His goodness, to relish and savor the gifts He has given me. To Adore Him.  And to show the same love God has shown me, to others, and delight in that love.

And with that, I'm delighted that I have all of you to listen to, pray for and share your concerns.  And share our love of quilting and sewing.

Happy and Delightful Stitching,
Linda
