Happy Valentine's Day
I've been working on some hearts.
These hearts are part of a kit. And the kit doesn't have very good instructions.
Well, they aren't good for me.
Cause I've already made a mistake. (Three of them!)
Although mistakes are really just design challenges. Right?
I cut my center heart out and then cut my curvy heart out. But I should have cut my center heart out with 1/4 seam. Yikes! I know better than that.
So now my center is just slightly smaller than the curvy heart and thereby showing gaps of background fabric in between.
It really only took me a minute to think of a solution - but for that one minute I was panicked!
Rick-Rack
The solution to all life's ails.
(The first time I said Rick-Rack my teen daughter laughed at me. She thought I was just making up a word. Until she looked it up in the dictionary. I had the last laugh with that one.)
Simple fix. Now I have to machine applique the outside of the curvy heart.
What color thread to you think I should use?
Red? Pink? White?
Any suggestions?
Happy Valentine's Day
and Happy Stitching,
Linda
Great job with the design challenge! I like the word rick-rack. It's just fun.
ReplyDeletegood fix! I think I would use white just because rick rack can be a little tricky to sew. I love that background fabric under the pink and red heart.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day!
Good thinking!!! I've had a nice little catch up of your blog. Good luck with your 20 mins a day and also good compromise on your Valentines Day outing!
ReplyDeleteGreat fix! I think I like white thread best.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! Happy Valentines Day! I love your hearts. Of course that is the way they are supposed to look! Probably I would go with the white. I love the look that the Rick-Rack gives. I haven't been able to spend time reading blogs the past few months..hope to catch up with special friends like you!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great solution..rick-rack is so happy! I love it too! :)
ReplyDeleteGood "cover!" I was going to say, "Just put some trim over it. I bet you like it better this way than you would have the other way! :-) Hmmm....I'd use pink on that applique. But any of the colors would look good!
