Rolling Instead of Frolicking

Do you know what happens when you have a silly dog
and you are trying to measure the length of your quilt?

She lays right smack dat on the tape measure.
 And rolls around
 becoming a blur.
Gotta love her!

I made this little dress for my daughter's soap bottle.
It was much fun to make with the rick-rack and ruffle.

We decided you have to be old to appreciate this type of thing.
Then my 15 year old granddaughter busted our theory - telling us she loves it too.  Or maybe we just raised her right. hahaha

Happy Stitching,
Have fun staying home.

Frolic Update

I've been sewing geese for the border of Frolic.
Of course one goose always wants to do it's own thing and get sewn with the blue on the left instead of the right.

I think for the corners of the borders I'll do these blocks.

And these are all those geese getting sewn up - four borders and four rows of geese being sewn at the same time so that I can chain piece them.

Little of This & That (Frolic, Walmart Fabric & Pantry)

I've been playing with the borders for frolic.  There is a good chance I'll change it from Bonnie's sawtooth design to flying geese.  I don't think she will mind at all.  I'm just wondering about matching all those points!

I needed to make some masks and while I was at Walmart stopped to see if they had some machine needles.

Huh..that's a big NO.  There are none to be found.
Same for the fat quarters - out.  As are most of the precuts.

And look at the bolts!  Most of the fabrics in this picture are upholstery.  Just a few bolts of cotton left.

And then I spied these empty cartons with upholstery fabric behind them. I also went by the thread display and there were only 5 spools left.
Yep, I would say Walmart is doing a bang up business.

I thought I would show you my pantry now that I have it all back together.  I'm very happy with the yellow shelves. As you can see I don't stock many canned items. I do like the see through containers. The lids seal and that keeps the bugs out.

Hopefully, you are all doing okay and taking care.

Staying at Home

I love staying at home.  I go in to work once a week.
My boss asked if I wanted to come in twice a week.  Really???  Would anyone want to do that?  Honestly, I want to stay home so that I don't get sick or get Bruce sick.

In the meanwhile, I have been super busy doing all kinds of projects.
A little bit on Frolic.  She's coming along so nicely.

And we painted the garage.  Okay, not a project I wanted to do, BUT it sure is nice.  And worth the effort!

Before

And after

It was so much work!

The next day Bruce put up shelves.

Of course I don't have a picture of the shelves - just one of Bruce working on them.
And I painted my pantry shelves a very light yellow.  Looks so much better.  They really needed to be painted.

So that's it for me.
I'll be working on Frolic again tonight.

Enjoy your stay at home time.
 Happy Sewing,

FNSI update

I've just been Frolicking along.
You know I have a love/hate relationship with Frolic.
And right now I'm in the LOVE part.

I love sewing on this quilt. I've been putting the blocks together in rows and adding the thin sashing between the rows.
I did figure out that I measured some of the blocks in the sashing wrong. Yikes! So now I have quiet a few that I'll be ripping out, cutting and restitching. But at least I know what's wrong and why the blocks are not fitting together nicely.
I'll continue on for the rest of the evening then tomorrow I'll be helping Bruce re-organize and paint the garage.  What a job!  But I love him, so I'll willingly help him.  It's a good stay at home project.

Have a blessed evening,
Linda

Finished the Pincushion

It's been a rough two weeks.
I'm finally feeling better.

I haven't done any sewing until today. Actually I haven't done anything, except laze around trying to get well.

I had made this little pincushion on Feb 29th.  But then I got the flu and I finally was able to stuff and finished him today.
I have Frolic to work on which requires so much pinning! I needed a rather flat pincushion to stick pins in without worrying about hitting buttons or what-nots. I don't think his ears will trouble me much.  I do think his ears turned out so cute.  I sewed him up at work by hand. I'm not into that hand stitching much - I would rather machine stitch.

At any rate, I finally felt good enough to sew ONE - yes just ONE sashing and now I have two blocks sewn together.
I need to work on my taxes - and I'm hoping that I can get some more Frolic blocks sewn together this weekend.

Stay well quilty friends
and Happy Stitching,
Linda
