Angela's Star Quilt - WIP

I feel so guilty working on the Midnight Mystery Quilt when I've had Angela's quilt in the works for probably over ten years.  Yeah - Really.  It's been that long.

What happened was, I was going to the local quilt shop, doing their Star BOM.  Well, I promised the quilt to Angela, but only made 4 blocks.
This was one of the blocks - that's not a star.  I don't care that's it's called Busy Bee Star.  It's NOT a star.

So I made a new one.

Much better. Yes?

I made more star blocks. Most came from Judy Martin.

I added some prairie points around the center feathered star.

I now have that sewn up.
Now to add a black border around the outside.

And then???   I'm not sure.....

But at least I've done something.
I'm just so happy to have started working on it again.

Oh and I did do a bit on the Midnight Mystery - I cut the fabric.

Happy Stitching,
Linda

  3. I agree that the first block doesn't really look like a star (at least to me). I like your new stars, especially the star in the center and one on the lower left. (I guess your inspiration for the stars was Judy Martin.)

Thanks for participating in the Quilty Inspiration link-up.

  4. Lovely star quilt! The longer you spend making a quilt, the more valuable it becomes. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

  8. I took a star block (a very large one) from a class and eventually turned it into a king-size medallion quilt. The star sat for years, a border was added, more years passed, and then I pulled it out, got started and really enjoyed the process of thinking up new borders. It's one of my favorite quilts now, and it's no worse for having sat so long. Good luck with your star quilt. It's looking very good so far.
